
On February 15th, there was a music concert held in St Andrew Church at 7.30pm, the music is inspired by the sea from Newcastle Wind Band and Colla Voce Chamber Choir.
The music from band tonight is the music style close to sympathy music, which is an extended musical composition form western classic music with different kinds of instruments, such as piano, clarinet, oboe, trombone, tuba, flute and so on.
The presentative of Newcastle Wind Band, Rebecca Clarke said, ‘we usually have concerts once or twice a semester, and as a student of music, I think it is a hobby for us to be here’, she also said, ‘it is a charity for the fishman and people live near the sea, so we make the charity thing with a music plan.’
Ziye Teng is a flute player in the band, she said it is a good chance for her to practice with people who love music, and it is also a good chance for her to practice English with native speakers.
The conductor is the main role in band music, they need to organize and train the orchestra and during the performance, they need to control the playing speed, keep the unity of the band so that the orchestra can play the work correctly and uniformly.
The Conductor of Band, Chris Clinch said, ‘today’s theme is about things to do with the sea, some quite music and band music are about sea songs, stories to do with the sea, and pieces of captain novels, and also well-known sea songs.”
In addition, Colla Voce Chamber Choir brought eight pieces of music which describe the beautiful weather and nature. The name of it is “CAPTAIN NOAH ANAD HIS FLOA THIN ZOO”, and from talking to the gold in the first piece of music to the experience and people on the road.
An audience at sence said, “they are like telling a story and make all the people here became part of them to share the sings and feelings with each other.”
